What does it mean to truly be alive? We often chase experiences and pursuits that make us feel alive, only to find they leave us empty over time. This sermon dives into Ephesians 2 to unpack the sobering reality that apart from Christ, we are spiritually dead, caught in a cycle of gratifying the desires of the flesh. Paul's list in Galatians 5 reminds us that the pull of the flesh rarely starts with something dramatic. It begins with ordinary things, work, family, pleasure, that slowly edge toward becoming idols when we return to them again and again to fill a void only God can fill. The good news is that the same passage that confronts us with our spiritual deadness bursts open with one of the most powerful pivots in all of Scripture: 'But because of his great love for us...' God does not wait for us to clean ourselves up. He steps into our deadness and makes us alive in Christ. That is not a minor upgrade. That is resurrection.
